“Beth has a magic touch in finding and supporting the children who need this the most. We call it the ‘Beth touch’ in our school!”Julie Bainbridge, Deputy Head, Deepdale Infants School, Preston

I believe voice work is a very healthy activity and highly therapeutic. My guiding principles are:

  • Voice work can promote better understanding of the body
  • breath work shifts mood
  • resonance is healing
  • self expression is vital for a balanced mind
  • silence gives the mind time to re-adjust

Exploring sound and silence has lead me to develop a strong sense of what wellbeing might mean. I try to promote it in all aspects of my work.

Working alongside those with challenging needs, individuals with bi-polar disorder, groups in SEN settings, young adults with complex conditions and behavioural issues, I have developed those principles of health and wellbeing. With Phil Mullen (Community Musician) I have written a Pupil Referral Unit singing resource called ‘Sitting in the Classroom‘ (available from The Sage, Gateshead).

Please listen below to some singing I did with pupils during a year long residency at Tor View Community College, Haslingden.

I have also recorded a relaxation session for anyone wanting to take some time out and shed some stress.
