“Everyone enjoyed the morning and will use their voices with renewed confidence! Many thanks for your energetic input.”Jo Edwards, SSCB Training Co-ordinator, Children’s Services Directorate, Safeguarding Children and Quality Assurance Unit

Learning about the singing voice lead to intense study of the speaking voice and it’s dramatic qualities. My method is to apply ideas usually associated with speech to song and those of song to speech.

In my workshops we might look at:

  • environment as a performance space
  • language play
  • presentation/speech construction
  • silence as a tool
  • body work for charisma
  • articulation for power

I initially trained as an opera singer at the Royal Scottish Academy and have spent a great deal of time trying to unravel what I learned on that degree. Informing myself has involved training as a Music Therapist and then finally as a Voice Specialist with an MA in Voice. The more I know the less I know but I tend to know where you can find an answer if I don’t know!

I have developed bespoke Presentation Skills or Wellbeing courses for the NSPCC, Salford Children’s Services, Irwell and Longhurst Group Housing Associations, Lancashire County Council, Manchester County Council as well as delivering training for Sing Up, Vocal Force and CAMS.
